October 23, 2017Devotions for week of October 23rd Monday: Luke 15: 11 – 18 1. The name prodigal means “wasteful” – where do you see the reason for using this title for the youngest son? How can that be applied to us? 2. When we live our lives outside of fellowship with the father, we will always be in what? 3. V 15 what happens when we attempt to fill our spiritual hunger by our own works outside of our father?
Tuesday: Luke 15: 18 – 20 1. What was the transition of the story in v 18? This was brought on by remembering the goodness of the father. What can we say about that and us in reflection of Romans 2:4. 2. Forgiveness by mercy is shown by the father (Mercy is to not give penalty) in v 20, what is the action of the father and what does that say about us and God?
Wednesday: Luke 15: 21 – 24 1. How does the son show being poor in spirit and a heart of repentance? 2. Justification means not only forgiveness but being reinstated to the proper position. Explain how in v 22 and 24 that the son was justified before the father?
Thursday: Read Romans 8:33 and Romans 3:23 – 24. 1. Who is it that justifies the sinner. 2. Justification is …………… to the sinner.
