Devotions March 27th week. Tuesday: Read Matthew 28: 1 – 10
Why is the specific detail of the first day of the week vs the traditional sabbath important for our faith?
Who came to the tomb that morning according to Matthew?
If the angel rolling back the stone and then sitting on it symbolizes anything, what would you say it mean knowing that the stone was mans best attempt to keep Jesus’ body in that tomb?
Rewrite the words of the angel and pray over them each morning this week, then ask God to speak to an unbeliever you love.
What did the Angel say to do with the experience or information?
Wednesday: From verses 9 – 10 of Matthew 28
What did the resurrected Christ do on the pathway as they were leaving the tomb? Why would you say that is important knowing that he is now a resurrected man, one they had seen and known to be dead? Have you ever met this risen Christ?
What was the Result or action from those who were walking from the tomb? How can this apply to our church body each Sunday?
What was the main point of the words of Christ to them at this moment: looking for two words.
What did he tell them to do with the information he had given them.
Thursday: Read John 20: 1 – 18
Who sat alone at the tomb and what was she doing?
What was her issue or problem?
Jesus asked her two things, what is wrong and who do you seek. In sorrow, that is a great outline in dealing with it, identify what is really the issue of the heart, and what do we look or reach to in order to fix it or comfort us. Think about the times in your life in which that might apply.
What did Mary do with the information she got that day?
Friday: Read John 20: 24 – 30
Which disciple had not seen the resurrected Jesus yet?
What statement did he make concerning his doubt?
What did Jesus do? (Could you imagine touching those nail scars knowing it was for you he died?)
What was the response of Thomas?
What did Jesus say about me, you, and our generation concerning our faith?
Read v 30, think about it, and then write a response.
Saturday: Read John 21: – 7
Where did Jesus show himself this time?
What did Peter say he was going to do? What does this represent if this was what he did when Jesus first met him? Concerning the denial of Peter and his weeping and shame, could this be the reason he was doing this? Have you ever felt unworthy, unfit, or a lost cause in the eyes of God.
What did Jesus ask them? Was Jesus proving a point to Peter here?
When Peter knew it was Jesus what did he do?
