August 19, 2018Power point for tonight
August 22, 2018Read Acts chapter 1:1-8
From verse 1, cross reference with Luke 1:3. Write down the author of the book of Acts and who he was writing to? In class, we discussed how Luke got his apostle authorship from Paul the apostle, why is this important for us accepting his writings? In class we discussed the dates of the gospels and this writing as from 37 A.D.- about 90 A.D. The application for the author and dates is for us to decide can we accept the writings as authentic? Do you accept them as truth?
In verses 1-8, we learn the person Luke considers to be our central figure. Who is that person and what does Luke say about them? (Command, passion, proofs) As we study acts write down anytime this person is described.
In verses 1-8, we learn about the promise. What is the promise and what does it do for us in verse 8. Think back to the demonstration in class. Anytime in our study we talk about this promise and gift, write down what action is completed.
In verse 8, we see the great purpose of the church (us or “thee”). What is that purpose? Anytime we see the church accomplish something in our study, write down how they fulfill this purpose.
In verse 8 we see the place we are to go. What are these places and how does that relate to the outline of the book?
